Advocacy
At DID Fit Studio, we believe in honoring the true origins of the art forms we teach and celebrate. Pole, silks, and Lyra aren’t just beautiful disciplines, they come from rich, complex histories that deserve recognition, respect, and care.
Pole Dance and the Sex Worker Community
Pole fitness wouldn’t exist without strippers and sex workers. It’s a fact we not only acknowledge, we advocate for. While pole has become increasingly mainstream and fitness-focused, it was built in the clubs, by dancers whose strength, artistry, and resilience carved the path for what we now call a sport.
DID Fit Studio is proud to actively support the sex worker community in the following ways:
Bringing in Strippers as Instructors and Guests: We regularly collaborate with professional dancers for workshops, giving our students access to the source. From floorwork to club-style pole, we learn from the best and pay them accordingly.
Offering Dancer Discounts: Working dancers receive discounted rates on classes and open studio time. If you’re currently dancing in clubs or working within the sex industry, we’d love to support your training — just reach out to us via email at didfitstudio@gmail.com to get set up.
Hosting Benefit Shows: We are continuing to work on benefit shows where proceeds go to organizations supporting sex workers’ rights, mutual aid, and bodily autonomy. These events help us raise awareness while giving back in a tangible way.
We’re not here to sanitize or distance ourselves from where pole comes from — we’re here to uplift and support the people who gave it to us.
Silks and Lyra: From Circus to Studio
Just like pole, aerial silks and Lyra (aerial hoop) come with their own legacies. These apparatuses trace back to the circus world where marginalized performers, travelers, and creatives often found their stage. From the Big Top to contemporary aerial dance, these arts have always attracted boundary-pushers and dreamers.
We honor that legacy by fostering a space where everyone, regardless of background, body, or identity, can explore movement, expression, and strength. We’re here for the misfits, the rebels, the sensual, the strange; anyone who’s been told they don’t belong somewhere else.
A Studio That Stands for More
DID Fit is more than an aerial studio — it’s a community grounded in respect, joy, and radical inclusivity. We understand that “fitness” doesn’t need to come at the expense of erasure. Whether you’re here to train like an athlete, flow like a dancer, or just have some fun, we’ve got you.
